2015: Big fears as Jonathan may dump Sambo

Indications have emerged that Vice President, Namadi Sambo is currently having sleepless nights over reported pressures on President Goodluck Jonathan to dump him as running mate in the 2015 presidential election.

Local media reported on Sunday that President Jonathan’s strategists have suggested that the Vice President be dropped for one of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP governors in the North-West , as a strategy of wining the heart of the three Northern regions.
The report had it that Jonathan’s analysts submitted a comprehensive assessment of Sambo, in which he is assumed to be “politically light, with no electoral value or strong base”, that can possibly boost Jonathan’s 2015 Project.
According to a reliable source in the Presidency, Jonathan may pick any of the capable PDP governors as his running mate, except the new Kaduna State Governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero.
The source disclosed that Jonathan’s main headache about Sambo is his failure to organize a strong political base in his home state of Kaduna and the North, given his serial electoral fall out in previous elections.
It was gathered that Sambo has been pleading with prominent politicians such as President Olusegun Obasanjo, General Ibrahim Babangida and other notable northerners to come to his aid.
His spokesman and political adviser, Umar Sani and Abba Dabo, are said to be in big fear over the seriuos challenge confronting their boss.
The source added that others, such as Senator Isaiah Balat, have lost out in the volatile politics of Southern Kaduna where there is a serious feud between the youth and the elite.
As Jonathan’s strategists have affirmed in their match-plan, the Minister of Environment, Hajiya Hadiza Mailafiya, also lacks strong base in Kaduna state.
