Popular Actor Ochendo Loses Case Against AGN President Ibinabo

Justice J. Yinusa ruled on December 2, 2013, Monday that the matter brought before the court by Ochendo lacks merit. Justice J. Yinusa stated that Ochendo cannot seek Ibinabo’s removal because he did not contest in the election that produced the ex-beauty queen as the AGN President. Therefore the case was struck out for lack of merit.
However, Ochendo will not give up. In his interview with Nigeriafilms.com after the judgement, the actor said he would appeal the ruling. He claimed that the matter, which was brought before the court, was not addressed by the judge. According to him, Ibinabo shouldn’t have contested the election in the first place.
On her part, the AGN President expressed her joy on the outcome of the case in court. She described the ruling as a victory for the guild.
It would be recalled Ibinabo Fiberesima has now spent over a year in office in her two-year single term. She was sworn into office in November 2012.

Actor Paul Walker, who shot to fame as star of the high-octane street racing franchise "Fast & Furious," died Saturday in a car crash in Southern California. He was 40.

Walker's publicist Ame van Iden confirmed his death, but said she could not elaborate beyond statements posted on Walker's official Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Walker was a passenger in a friend's 2005 Porsche Carrera GT and both were attending a charity event for his organization, Reach Out Worldwide, in the community of Valencia in Santa Clarita, about 30 miles north of Hollywood.

A Federal High Court in Abuja today sentenced Talal Ahmad Roda (pictured above), one of the three Lebanese men arrested in May 2013 in connection with illegal possessions of weapon, to life imprisonment. Mr Roda was arrested after a large cache of arms was found in a bunker during a raid on his residence. He was found guilty of all 5 counts of illegal possession of weapons and conspiracy.

Two other men, Mustapha Fawaz, the owner Amigo Supermarket in Abuja and Abdallah Tahini, who were also charged with possession of illegal weapons, were set free by the court. See photos from the trial after the cut...

Chancellors Order Universities To Reopen of all shut down Universities across the country.

 

 The Committee of Pro-Chancellors of Federal Universities on Tuesday called for the immediate re-opening of all shut down universities across the country.

This is contained in a communiqué signed by the committee’s Chairman, Prof. Kimse Okoko, released in Abuja on Tuesday.

The communiqué was issued at the end of the committee’s meeting to discuss the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other issues affecting the Nigerian University System.
